Gfycat shutting down or being discontinued, try these alternatives

-

Gfycat is a popular online platform for hosting and sharing short looping videos known as GIFs (Graphics Interchange Format). The company release a note that says the Gfycat service is being discontinued. Gfycat is shutting down.

All Gfycat users are said to have their content removed within a few weeks by logging into their accounts on the official website https://gfycat.com/. After September 1, 2023, all Gfycat content and data will be deleted from gfycat.com.

With Gfycat shutting down, users seeking GIF-sharing platforms can turn to Tenor (also known as GIPHY), the platform to which Gfycat’s content library has been migrated.

There are also Gfycat alternative platforms available, such as:

    • GIMP, which stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program, is a free and open-source raster graphics editor. It is a powerful software application that allows users to create and manipulate digital images and graphics. GIMP is available for various operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Gfycat allowed users to upload videos from various sources and then transformed them into short, looping GIFs or “Gfycats.” These Gfycats were typically smaller in file size compared to traditional GIFs, making them more efficient for sharing and embedding on websites and social media.
